KARYON in the training course at Katech

4S srl had presented KARYON in the training course at Katech (the Korea Automotive Technology Institute) on Functional Safety according to ISO 26262 (November 2012). The audience had included 15 people with different expertise in the area of automotive.   The course covered not only the requirements of the standard, but also dealt with ongoing research regarding methods and tools to support automotive electronic designers. In particular an outline of Karyon project was presented. This subject was of particular interest, because the final part of the course was devoted to the discussion about future needs in the application of ISO 26262, and ADAS and cooperative driving were subjects addressed.

A BeSafe seminar at Volvo on KARYON

Rolf Johansson from SP Technical Research Institute of Sweden gave a talk in a BeSafe seminar at Volvo on safe cooperative autonomous vehicles in an uncertain environment. The talk has considered both the avionic and in the automotive domains, with scenarios of cooperative autonomous vehicles in mind. He had reviewed the many similarities between the use cases of these branches, and the challenges for the E/E architecture solutions have much in common. The key question of the presentation was how to become able to argue for safety. Rolf showed how KARYON investigates these issues. The talk discussed KARYON’s system solutions for predictable and (functionally) safe coordination of smart vehicles that autonomously cooperate and interact in an open and inherently uncertain environment.
